Why does honour make people do heroic things? What is it about love that makes a person give up their future with someone in order to save them?
Dad says I won't understand til I'm older. Mum just says that love makes people do funny things anyway. I still don't understand it. I'm beginning to think I never will. I mean, I understand why people like doing heroic things. They like the attention, the popularity, the high that comes from simply being known as a hero. That's got to be it. To be immortalised as a hero? I can imagine maybe giving up my life to be immortalised in such a way. To go down fighting, to fight the good fight until there's nothing left of me? Yes. I can imagine going out in a blaze. But to do it for love? I can't imagine giving up my future just for a girl.
