Title: A Night Under the Snow
Prompt: snow and love

It was like a chorus of angels singing in harmony. Still, even with all the other voices mixed in, all he could hear was her voice. It was sweet and airy, like a fresh breeze in the chill of the morning while the dew still sits here and there on the grassy meadow. For the first time that weekend, he didn't feel as angry at being snowed in. Chase sat entranced. It was as if the snow didn't even exist. All of his plans that had been wiped out by the downpour of snow didn't matter anymore. As he sat there listening while the group of strangers sang "Silent Night" along with the guitar, all he wanted in the world was sitting across from him, his beautiful angel singing a harmony line to the melody. She was enjoying the togetherness and the music, the way she usually did. For once, he understood what it was to be like her, to not stress about things that didn't need to be stressed about. When the song finally ended, Chase motioned for her to join him. He walked her away from the group, closer to a window, white and crystalline from the frozen snow outside. She interrupted him before he even said a word.
"Chase, I know you're worried about the snow but you don't have to worry anymore," she told him gently. She smiled encouragingly. "Can't you forget about it for one night? It's not even that bad, they'll have us shovelled out by noon tomorrow." She grasped his hands tightly, pulling him lightly back toward the group, back near the fire, as they began to sing "Deck the Halls". Chase shook his head with a smile.
"I'm not worried," Chase told her with a smile. He stared into her face, mesmerised by the aura of pure joy surrounding her. She even had a halo from the glow of the fire behind her. "I just wanted to tell you thank you. Thank you for being patient with me this weekend. I know I've been an annoying pain and that you'd been so tolerant of my temper. I know that I need to work on it. Despite the snow in and being stuck in a cabin with a bunch of people I don't know...you've been amazing. I don't know how you do it." He pulled the velvet box out of his pocket and dropped to one knee.
"I'm not perfect. I will be the perfect husband to you though," he said quickly, watching with delight as her eyes widened in surprise, her mitten-covered hands flying to cover her mouth. "Angela, will you make me the happiest man in the world and agree to be my wife?" With that, he opened the box to reveal a diamond ring that sparkled as brightly as the snow in the window. The only thing in the room that sparkled more that night were the tears in Angela's eyes as she nodded 'yes' while the chorus of "Joy to the World" rang out in the background.
