"You know this is dangerous, that I can't enter into this knowing you could die," Remus said quietly, grasping her hands as though her touch was all that sustained him.
"It's a war, Remus. We could all die. It makes no difference that you are what you are," Tonks responded just as quietly.
"They'll hunt me down. Your job, your reputation as an auror is at risk. You're turning your back on your job! Everything you've worked so hard to accomplish!" Remus insisted fiercely. "The laws--"
"The laws can go to hell, Remus." She kissed him gently. "I love you."
